62 Days to Change: A Prelude to A New Beginning

How I felt when I woke up this morning!

I woke up this morning extremely frustrated by my life.

The past six months have been a very arduous mental and emotional journey from which I have learned a few lessons but I’m severely disappointed with myself that I’m not as far as I thought I would be.

I was so agitated when I woke up, I immediately went into my office and grabbed a book off my bookshelf.  Since I have lots of self-help books (many which have yet to be read), I figured I could read something…anything at this point…to lighten my mood and change my perspective.    My hand went to The Power of Focus: What the World’s Greatest Achievers Know about The Secret to Financial Freedom & Success by Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, and Les Hewitt.  It’s a book I began reading like five years ago but never finished.

I now realize I just wasn’t ready (mentally or maturity wise) to receive the information the book contained, but I’m at a different point now.

This is how I feel now that I have a new perspective!

Upon reading the first chapter, I felt so much better.  I mean seriously, the weight of failure and disappointment which was on my chest when I woke had evaporated and a sense of purpose and motivation had taken it’s place.

Now at the end of each chapter, there’s an Action Plan where you are to actually do the steps.  One of the steps at the end of the first chapter was using The Success Formula to break bad habit by forming new ones.

That leads me to this blog post and the next sixty two day journey I’m about to embark upon.  Currently, I’m on a health sabbatical from work and therefore have time to do many things.  Specifically there are three major habits I need to form in order to begin seeing real results in my life.  I’ve felt this way for a while, but I’ve been too lazy, too unmotivated, too discouraged, etc. to actually begin.  With this book, I felt my motivation being reignited and I followed through with the completing The Success Formula for those three habits I need to form.  So here it goes…

The Success Formula

  • Fit & Happy

    I want to be much closer to this by the end of this journey!

    Habit #1 – The Fitness Habit

A. Habits Holding Me Back

Procrastination, not exercising regularly, oversleeping

Consequences:

  • I won’t reach my fitness goals,
  • I’ll continue to feel bad about myself,
  • Zero social life,
  • I’ll continue to be an an angry person inside because I don’t like the way I look

B. Successful New Habit

Daily exercise

Benefits:

  • I’ll feel better about myself,
  • Mental clarity & increased ability to focus,
  • I’ll achieve my fitness goals,
  • Be able to live my life from a point of awareness instead of on autopilot

C. Three Step Plan

  1. Wake up at 3 a.m. everyday
  2. Follow prescribed fitness plan
  3. Write about my feelings, experiences, etc. immediately after on this blog (I find writing extremely cathartic and enjoyable so this was a little incentive I decided to through in at the end!)

 

  • Happy Student

    I want to get to the point where I look forward to and enjoy studying!

    Habit #2 – The Study Habit

A. Habits Holding Me Back

Procrastination, fear of failure, inability to maintain focus, disinterest

Consequences:

  • Stalled success in professional career
  • Fear of school
  • Unable to go further in life and career
  • Lack of confidence in my own scholastic abilities

B. Successful New Habit

Positive approach to studying with mental clarity & focus so I can engage in the activity for extended periods of time

Benefits:

  • Pass professional exams for further success in my career
  • Regain confidence in myself to continue to further my education
  • Reignite my passion for learning and to continue on to get additional professional certifications

C. Three Step Plan

  1. Study & take notes 2 hours daily in book material for exams
  2. Study & take notes 1.5 hours daily from online material for exams
  3. Spend 30 minutes daily reviewing notes from study session

 

  • Nice Car

    I want to be on track to owning one of these in less than a year!

    Habit #3 – The Business Habit

A. Habits Holding Me Back

Procrastination, indecision, and getting frustrated with myself

Consequences:

  • The dreams I have for my businesses will never come to fruition
  • I’ll never be ready to successfully run my businesses
  • Be angry about always having to work for someone else

B. Successful New Habit

Spending time daily working toward the success of my business

Benefits:

  • Finally live the life of my dreams!
  • Be successful in pursuits that I’m truly passionate about
  • Earn the income I have in mind for myself
  • Be on my own schedule and work with clients I want to work with

C. Three Step Plan

  1. Spend 1.5 hours/day working on web copy
  2. Spend 2.5 hours/day working on & implementing concepts from Book Yourself Solid by Michael Port
  3. Spend 30 minutes a day planning for the next day and brainstorming new ideas

 

There you have it, those are the three habits I want (and desperately need!) to form over the next two months.

Today I simply wrote out the plans I had for each item but I will be spending time on it as well.

Tomorrow is when my journey “officially” begins.

My goal is to write everyday about it as I go along so whoever one day happens to stumble upon my blog can read my journey (and hopefully) success and be inspired to do the same as well.
